“Normandie is the best kept golf secret in metro St. Louis. Walters Golf Management has done a fabulous job in bringing Normandie back to it's glory days. Greens are superb!” -Ed Barry
“Normandie is a great old course that is a challenge for all levels of golfers. You'll hit every club in your bag!” -Dave Smith
"This ole girl is like a Phoenix arising from the ashes. Years of neglect are now being corrected by the great Walters Golf folks. This course as of last week was in great shape. The greens were comparable to any set of private course greens in St Louis. Fast, true and lush, accepting low to mid irons as well as the short ones. Fairways are coming along..but the real deal are the greens...unbelievably good. Give WGM a couple more years and this will be THE public track to play.
If you havent played here. It could be one of the hardest public courses and is definitely the oldest track west of the Mississippi. It sits in what used to be the Mecca for golf in St. Louis. It neighbored the old Bellerive, [now where UMSL sits] Glen Echo, Norwood, a couple other courses since departed and Paddock. This is a blown up Glen Echo and old style country club with six hard holes, six medium and six easy holes...a fair test of golf even today. Play it from the tips and pack a lunch. The greens are old style, not like the newer greens with their sophisticated irrigation and drainage systems..so, if the greens get too fast, and the pin placement is made by some punk kid..you can have a serious long day. If you haven't played it, you haven't play golf in St.Louis...give her a rip." - lastminutegolfer.com, Tim of McCluer '69 (10 handicap), December 18, 2015
"Folks, don't look down your nose at this old girl. As of Nov. 13, the greens were cut fast and the fairways were OK for late Fall conditions. I hadn't played this course for 5-6 years but thought I'd try again with all the 'next Cherry Hills' talk. I quickly remembered the 2 huge par 5's, the old trees guarding the greens from the wrong angles and the classic 250 yard Par 3 closing hole. Oh, and by the way, this course was designed to be walked." - WhiffedAgain of O'Fallon, MO (22 handicap) , November 15, 2015
"Played the course 3 times in the last 3 months. Played in less than 4 hours all 3 times. Rough was a little dry and thin, (no rain for 25 days) rest of course in good shape. Very fun course with difficult greens (if above the holes) Great last minute place to play during the week it is never crowded." - Russ (7 handicap), October 8, 2015
"One of the few traditional courses in the Saint Louis area that is open to the public. Walters Golf Management has done a good job in restoring this course to good condition. Big trees, lots of hills, and small greens. A good challenge." - Ronl of Saint Louis (12 handicap), June 30, 2004
"Great layout! You can tell that this use to be one of the best public courses in the city. In another week or so, the fairways will be even better. Tough course if you play it from the back. Great course for the money!" - Mini-Tiger of St. Charles, May 11, 2015
"Played back on 3/20. Course has a nice layout with some really interesting greens. They definitely have some age and charachter to them. I look forward to playing in another month after it's in better shape. If number 11 is in the back right, get it all the way back there, don't dare come up short or you may have your ball back at your feet!" - Almost Ace of Breck. Hills, April 1, 2015
"Great layout! Super hard from the tips. One of the toughest layouts in area. Greens very fast and undulating. Will play again when weather gets better." - Volp of U. City, March 22, 2015
